Nouveau Riche Real Estate Investment College held its first-ever Teen Financial Literacy class on Saturday, July 18, 2009. Co-taught by Nouveau Riche Instructors Craig Cottrell and Phillip Lechter, nearly 50 teens, ages 13-17, participated in this interactive, eye-opening class, where they learned key principles on managing money now and in the future. Through exploratory discussions, breakout application exercises, and reflective discussions on basics of budgeting and smart spending, financial management vehicles, credit, and more, students gained a fundamental understanding of financial literacy and how this knowledge can empower them. Almost one year after attending the first-ever White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives Compassion in Action Roundtable on Financial Literacy, Nouveau Riche CEO Jim Piccolo returns to Washington D.C. for the vitally important Global Financial Literacy Summit on June 17th. Headlining this invitation-only Summit is U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke “helping America and the world to begin the process of effectively ‘turning the page,’ towards viable long-term, systemic and sustainable solutions to our economic problems.” (http://summit09.operationhope.org/) Keynote speakers include FDIC Chair Sheila Bair and civil rights icon and HOPE global spokesman Ambassador Andrew Young, principal aide to the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., among other notable speakers. The Summit will hone in on understanding the “language of money,” the psychological aspects and the contributing factors such as culture and environment, how money represents stability, opportunity and access, or lack thereof the aforementioned, and the impact of this language on the world at large. This Summit “will frame the issue of financial literacy…as an essential, core ingredient to mid-to-long-term economic recovery and stability.”

Fresh out of the Global Summit, Jim Piccolo will take part in a Special Edition Financial Literacy Workshop for Nouveau Riche Community Members in the Washington D.C. Metro Area, where he will share his knowledge about financial literacy and building a brighter, more prosperous future. During this workshop, Community Members will have the chance to join in the new trend of financially literate Superpreneurs.

Understanding the critical importance of financial literacy, Nouveau Riche is taking a huge step in educating our children. Beginning in July, 2009, primary Regents Tuition Students will have the opportunity to bring their teens (one teen per primary Regents Student) to College for the new Teen Financial Literacy class—for FREE! Teens ages 13-17, of primary Regents Tuition students, will have the opportunity to participate in fun and engaging classes that utilize rich media to educate outside of the norms on topics like budgeting, living within your means, checking account management, fiscal responsibility, credit, and much more. Nouveau Riche believes in not only teaching the essentials on entrepreneurship and real estate investing, but also the fundamentals of financial literacy. Nouveau Riche and the College Advisory Board have conducted extensive research on the best methods of keeping teenagers engaged in their learning. This class will captivate teens with information to improve their spending habits for years to come. Nouveau Riche Instructor and creator of the first college-credited course on financial literacy in the country, Craig Cottrell, takes the lead in educating youth through this program. The program will have limited capacity and will accept student registrations when the July 2009 Nouveau Riche Real Estate Investment College schedule is launched in June, 2009.

Nouveau Riche makes big strides in advancing the knowledge of financial literacy for adults, with the announcement of Nouveau Riche Real Estate Investment College’s new Financial Literacy class. Taught by Nouveau Riche Instructor and creator of the first college-credited course on financial literacy in the country, Craig Cottrell, this Level 100 class aims to shed new light on tried and true fundamentals of financial goal setting and achievement, examine the benefits of tighter expense controls, share an overview of credit reports and scores, and review time-proven, wealth-building success principles. On Wednesday, June 18, Nouveau Riche CEO Jim Piccolo had the distinct honor of attending the first-ever White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives Compassion in Action Roundtable on Financial Literacy in Washington, D.C. Comprised of the Presidential Cabinet Members, top political leaders, leading educators and bright, notable business people from around the country—including Anna Escobedo Cabral, Treasurer of the United States, and Charles Schwab, Chair of the President’s Council on Financial Literacy—this Roundtable focused on innovative and effective programs and partnerships that promote financial literacy among Americans of all ages. Piccolo commented that, although he has had many great opportunities throughout his life to work with incredible Christian, giving and successful individuals, this experience was “the highlight” of his career. “It was an amazing and incredible experience,” said Piccolo. Government officials and leaders recognize the need to turn around current economic trends by saving the individual citizens with the promotion of financial literacy and entrepreneurialism. Nouveau Riche offers a major solution to this challenge. Mr. Piccolo has given his commitment to his peers in Arizona to work on Arizona-based initiatives and will continue to do everything he can “to build the biggest, best company of entrepreneurs and self-made, self-built, independent individuals.”
